West Barnstable Brick Company 6.97 acres – 2013
Orenda received the West Barnstable Brick Company site in March 2013 from the Pogorelc Family. This iconic firm closed in 1932. Walking trails now exist along the same route of former cart paths used by the brick company. This area includes a freshwater pond formed from an artesian well that was created by a test hole to determine the amount of clay present. The area flooded, forcing the company to close. The area has sweeping views of the Great Marsh. In early Fall 2018, Orenda and the Barnstable Land Trust made a deal to swap ownership of the parcel of 4.52 acres that fronts Route 6a for other land in West Barnstable.
